Teacher Removed for Domination Poem

A teacher at South Windsor High School, USA, has resigned due to pressure from angered parents and carefully-footed school administrators for showing a notoriously sexually explicit poem to his class. The poem in question was Allen Ginsberg’s Please Master, which is a pretty heated piece about domination. To give you a little example of what we’re talking about, here are two choice lines:

Two naked men hug on bed
A homosexual couple hugging in the bed

please master stroke your shaft with white creams
please master touch your cock head to my wrinkled self-hole

The contents of the poem are pretty bizarre for those unused to literature’s tradition of slowly and often-times vociferously pushing the boundaries on what is socially acceptable. Hell, you could even outright disagree with it and call it repulsive – a right you reserve as a free-thinking human being. What is bizarre, however, are the repercussions that the teacher, David Ohio, faced for sharing what is essentially a piece of art (in whichever diminutive form you see it). After all, it’s not like it’s a pamphlet promoting explicit domination-orientated gay sex; he wasn’t coercing some naively-minded youngster into sharing a secretive night at his cottage off campus. He was simply engaging with a classroom of AP English students (Advanced Placement) aged 17-18.

Would This Really Corrupt?

It raises the question of what is more the issue here. At what point did we tread so foolishly into the politically-correct world of today. Is this once again a case of parents believing that exposure to sex, be it sexual literature or sex education, will somehow corrupt them or act as a motivator?

In a statement issued by the School’s Superintendent, it was stated that “The content of the poem is wholly inappropriate for a high school classroom, and it was irresponsible for you to present this poem to children under your charge.”

Outside of the obvious ludicrous point of calling 17-18 year olds ‘children’, it is crazy that an education system believes it can shield students from sex – be it the missionary position or the world of bondage and domination. Half of these students have likely read or seen Fifty Shades of Grey, so it’s hard to understand where this illusionary tabooed line exists between what is and what isn’t OK to speak about.

Deviancy or Celebration?

From a literary perspective, you can either condemn the poem as an ode to sexual deviancy or a celebration of complete sexual liberalism, not unlike the stuff Oscar Wilde was writing about back in the day. But for everyone else involved – people of all young ages are exposed to this sort of stuff on a daily basis. Shouldn’t the classroom be the one place that we can safely deconstruct and understand explicit material? Or is it somehow better that teenagers are gaining knowledge about the different worlds of sex through furtive playground whispers.

It is hard to say whether the poem’s homosexual subject matter played a part in the decision to remove Mr Olio, or whether gay sex is simply still seen as the rougher and more explicit form of sex. But as always, as a website advertising domination escorts, we abhor the notion that the world of domination should still be somehow feared and, in this case, actively repressed.
