Sex Reduces Prostate Cancer Risk!

For years people have been emphasising how bad it is to have multiple sex partners and how morally wrong it is to be promiscuous with sex. However, that has all changed now that a medical study has revealed that sex can reduce your chances of getting prostate cancer.

The study

The study, which was conducted by researchers from the University of Montreal and published in the Cancer Epidemiology journal, surveyed 3208 men over a four year period. They gave information about their lifestyles, as well as their sexual experiences. Over half of the participants in the study had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The results

To say that the results were shocking would be an understatement. They discovered that men who have had sex with more than 20 women in their lifetimes were less likely to be diagnosed with prostate cancer. They were at a 28% lower risk of being diagnosed when compared to their monogamous counterparts, and were 19% less likely to develop a more aggressive form of cancer if they were diagnosed.

While this is astonishing, they also found that homosexuals who had sex with at least 20 men (including virgins) had double the risk of being diagnosed. They were also five times more likely, if promiscuous, to develop a less aggressive form of the cancer than those who had only one male partner.

Why this difference?

The difference is indeed shocking, but some speculative theories have come out as to why the difference is so much. It is believe, lead researcher on the study Marie-Elise Parent suggests, that the “higher frequency of ejaculations” plays a factor for those with more partners, while the “physical trauma” to the prostate from anal sex could also have a factor in increasing the risk for promiscuous gay men.

Warning

Despite these figures, Parent believes that this is not a reason for public health authorities to start encouraging men to have sex with more and more women, as it can put them at risk of sexually transmitted diseases and infections.

Obviously, if you are going to be having sex with multiple partners you need to ensure you use protection. That way you can ensure the safety and health of yourself and your partners and anyone they will sleep with in the future.

Will it change your thoughts on sex?

I told my casual partner about this and he started making jokes that he must sleep with more women in order to stay healthy. Whether he will or not remains to be seen, but has it changed how you feel about sex? According to the findings of this study are you low risk or high risk?
