A Russian artist hopes to explore the connection between loneliness and random hook-ups by having sex with a different person each day for an entire year.
Save The Date
Mischa Badasyan, 26, is starting the project in September, and aims to look specifically at how loneliness and sex relate to gay culture. He has already been tested for STDs and has been given the all-clear… he has even managed to get a condom sponsor for his research!
The only problem? He hasn’t got all of the partners worked out. In fact, he only has the first and last dates arranged, with 363 people left to find.
The Art In The Act
You may be wondering where the ‘art’ comes into this. It seems that Badasyan is hoping to take a small item from each person he meets. At the end of the year, he will put them all together to make a piece of art, and you can see how things progress for him, as a documentary filmmaker is going to follow him on this journey of discovery.
Is it art?
While Badasyan may say that “it’s performance art”, I’m still struggling to see just what makes this art. To me it sounds more like research or just a lot of flings, while the only artistic part will be the collage he creates at the end. What do you think?
